Health Budget Advocacy in Bomet,Bungoma,Busia,Nairobi and Siaya Counties by KAYSRH Network

Violet Mbiti Foundation was trained by Mamaye Evidence4Action on Health Budget Advocacy in Nairobi County.With the knowledge attained,we utilised the knowledge attained together with our peers at Kenya Adolescent and Youth Sexual Reproductive Health Network where Violet Mbiti Foundation is a member.

Health Budget Advocacy targeting Youth and Adolescents was conducted in Bomet, Siaya, Bungoma, Busia and Siaya courtesy of Kenya Adolescent and Youth Sexual Reproductive Health Network. Memo for the different counties were submitted to the respective County Treasuries with regard to County Fiscal Strategy Paper 2019/20.The memos were submitted during the public participation forums.

Success was seeing Nairobi County increase allocation for health which now stands at Ksh 7.195 billion up from 6.8 billion which was earlier proposed.Our advocacy efforts paid off.Health Commodities/drugs has been allocated Ksh 700 million and community health volunteers Ksh 100 million.

It also highlights projects focusing on youth being implemented in 47 counties in Kenya by the national government,county governments,donor agencies,civil society organisations (CSOs),Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs),Donor Agencies,Community Based Organisations (CBOs),private sector and individuals and their impact to the communities.
The projects lie within the social pillar,economic pillar and political pillar as enshrined in Vision 2030.
